Global Refugee Outreach Initiative (GRO) Mission Trip

Please pray for our mission team of David Johnson, Josh Clarke, Rusty Hicks and Biglife’s Jake Duke going to Jordan, Germany and Austria on February 24—March 4.  The team is scheduled to visit refugee camps and to meet with leaders and refugees from many countries.  Our group hopes to meet both spiritual and physical needs and to help prepare and train many of the refugees to return to their home countries to share the gospel with their own families, friends and neighbors.  Pray also for safe and smooth travels as the team will be making multiple trips by airplanes and trains.

Haroon, Brother of Musa

In the gospels, we learned of a pair of brothers the Lord called the “Sons of Thunder.”  Today in Central Asia we have some sons of thunder who need our prayers for the Lord’s help and deliverance.  Our brother Musa there has been kidnapped twice.  The last time, he was tortured and beaten before escaping his captors.  Now Musa’s own brother and another friend have been kidnapped.  Please pray for the brave believers in Central Asia who are witnessing and proclaiming the gospel among many who resort to violence to try to oppose the Lord.  Pray also that the hearts of these kidnappers will be changed and their spiritual eyes opened.  Matthew 5:44-45.

Persecution in Mauritius

Kenny and Frieda Fong in Mauritius have reported that three believers there have passed away suddenly without further details on the causes of death.  Meanwhile, the Fongs also have reported that the Tamil community recently celebrated throughout the island by piercing their bodies and walking on fire as part of their sacrifices to idols.  This week, large numbers are expected to participate in a pilgrimage to a Hindu god.  Please pray for encouragement of the community of Christian believers there and the families and loved ones of those who passed away.  Pray also for the light of the gospel to shine brightly in Mauritius.  Mark 8:35.

Doulos at “Ends of the Earth” Mission Event in Birmingham

David Johnson is scheduled to speak at the Issachar Initiative and Mission Birmingham event at Liberty Church at 2732 Old Rocky Ridge Road in Vestavia on Saturday, March 10.  The worship, prayer, and mission planning event, “To the Ends of the Earth,” is open to the public and scheduled for 8:00 A.M.—12:00 Noon.  Attendance is free, but those wishing to attend are requested to register in advance at <missionbirmingham.org>.  Please pray for David and all the speakers and attendees and for Doulos’ ministry to be blessed through its participation in this effort to fulfill the Great Commission and to take the gospel to all remaining “unengaged, unreached people groups” around the world.  John 17:20—23.
