January 2017 Prayer Gram and Praise Reports

prayer

Let’s thank the Lord for all He has done for us. Let’s also thank Him for what He is doing through Doulos, all our partners, the church plants, and their pastors around the world. (Isaiah 26:12)

Praise the Lord for the salvation of our sister Nirmal Nayak’s husband in Orissa, India, and his deliverance from the bondage of alcoholism following many prayers for this man, now a new believer and brother in the faith. (Luke 4:18-19; Psalm 146:5-10)

Also in Orissa, India, let’s give thanks to God for the many people there who have turned to Christ during the Christmas outreach led by our brother Deepak.

We have received very encouraging reports about other Christmas outreach programs in South and Central Asia in particular. Our brother Rocky reports that many people came to their Christmas feasts in keeping with Luke 14:12-14. The team shared the gospel and food with many who are poor. Brother Hari and his team visited nine villages in Nepal and reports sharing the gospel with 200 people. Brother Rupesh Tamang and his team in India visited many homes to sing Christmas carols and to share the gospel. They report that five families have begun following Christ as a result. Brother Lawrence and his team preached the gospel in an open air event in West Bengal, India, to about 150 people, and several committed their lives to Christ. Let’s thank the Lord for this work and also thank the Holy Spirit for testifying about Christ throughout the world. (John 15:26)

Praise the Lord for the salvation that has come to the family of our sister Menoti Haldar in Bangladesh. She reports accepting the Lord Jesus Christ and being healed from a serious illness after first learning about Jesus from our brother John Mondal. Now her husband and children are following Christ as well. Please pray for this family as they face persecution for believing and for sharing the gospel in surrounding villages. (Hebrews 3:6)

Thank the Lord for what He has done through our brother Amit and his 15-person team in Punjab, India, where they were able to share the gospel over two days in two prisons with a total of about 3,600 inmates. The team was even requested to bring Bibles to the prisons. The initial report is that the response in one of the prisons was “amazing.” (Luke 10:2-3)

Praise the Lord for His financial blessings on Doulos and on our supporters, enabling them to donate $57,511 as part of our “#MakeItMatch” campaign in addition to the $20,000 matching gift, for a grand total of $77,511! We thank you, our supporters, for sharing in the work with us, and we also thank the Lord for each of you. (Philippians 4:10-20)

Thank the Lord that Josh and Courtney have received a contingent offer on their house in Tennessee, and please continue to pray that the transaction will be completed smoothly.

Thank the Lord for the opportunity to continue preaching the gospel, making disciples and planting churches around the world. (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15) Please continue to pray for our teams preparing for upcoming trips.
