What is Doulos Partners’ Mission?

Doulos Partners exists to empower the indigenous to take the Gospel further and faster to the ends of the Earth.

Why do we believe this mission is important?

We believe last words matter. Jesus’ last recorded instruction given to His disciples was the Great Commission, a commandment to “… go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you…”

Jesus’ disciples felt these last words were especially important, as displayed in the fervor they exhibited spreading the Gospel. Our prayer is to live out this commandment so that every human being has the opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ.

What is the significance of the word ‘Doulos’ in Doulos Partners?

Doulos is a Greek word used in the New Testament over 140 times, one example being Philippians 1:1. The meaning of the Greek word is slave—as in bondservant to the master, Jesus Christ—fully committed to carrying out His commandments. We find encouragement in our name to remain focused on living out the Great Commission on a daily basis. We seek to partner with individuals and organizations that share this vision.

What does Doulos Partners believe is the most effective and efficient way to reach the unreached?

There are many good ways to reach the unreached. Our experience, alongside the experience of our ministry partners, has shown the most cost-effective, efficient, and successful method is supporting indigenous leaders with financial resources, training, and prayer to reach their own country for Christ.

How does Doulos Partners participate in this mission?

Through strategic partnerships with successful church-planting ministries, we empower indigenous leaders to advance God’s Kingdom through evangelism, discipleship, and church planting. We resource our strategic partners, who have established ministries and deep relationships with indigenous pastors around the globe, with financial support, prayer, and leadership resources to train and reproduce leaders to continue sharing the Gospel.

All evangelical work, including evangelism, discipleship, and church planting, is led by indigenous leaders in their own countries. This approach eliminates many of the obstacles that Western missionaries around the world face in gaining trust, navigating customs, and learning culture.

Why partner with us as a donor?

Every dollar you give goes directly to mission work.
Our goal is to provide opportunities for believers looking to make a Kingdom impact to have the greatest eternal return on investment. We serve as a missions mutual fund, sending resources to Christian church-planting ministry partners where they will make the greatest Kingdom impact.

Since Doulos’ inception, our Board of Directors and the Leadership Team have covered all of our administrative costs. Thanks to their incredible generosity, we have been able to send 100% of the money raised through our donors to the field. To honor this commitment to our donors, we have an agreement with our partners that they will send 100% of the money they receive from Doulos Partners to the missions field, not taking any administrative fees.

We enter the mission field regularly to oversee the work.
Three to four times per year, our team travels to oversee and validate the work that is being done on behalf of our donors, as well as encourage and assist in training our local partners as they lead individuals to Christ.

Third-party organizations regularly vet the effectiveness of our mission.
We submit ourselves to four third-party organizations for annual vetting. As a member of ECFA (Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability), we are required to produce and submit annual reports to ensure that we are practicing the “Seven Standards of Responsible Stewardship” that they put forth for Christian nonprofits.

For the last ten years, we have been chosen to be on ROI Ministry’s Top 10 Global Ministries List. We undergo thorough annual vetting through ROI and their partner, Calvin Edwards & Company. Calvin Edwards & Company is a consulting firm that provides philanthropic counsel to foundations, high-net-worth families, government agencies, and select nonprofits.

We also annually submit all of our information to Candid. According to their mission statement: “Every year, millions of nonprofits spend trillions of dollars around the world. [Candid] finds out where that money comes from, where it goes, and why it matters. Through research, collaboration, and training, Candid connects people who want to change the world to the resources they need to do it.” Candid's data tools on nonprofits, foundations, and grants are the most comprehensive in the world. These additional steps ensure that you can rest knowing that we are living up to the promises made to you as a donor.

How is the message of the Gospel delivered and advanced in the field?

Our funding helps empower indigenous evangelists to reach new villages and towns. Evangelists reach the lost and disciple new believers. God faithfully raises up leaders with the gift and heart of pastoring. Pastors and new believers plant churches and continue reaching their villages, adding to their number. Multiplication takes place as these disciples plant more churches, reaching more lost people. This allows the evangelists to begin the process again, reaching new villages with the message of Jesus and training more disciples.

What does ‘church’ look like in the field?

We believe that evangelism naturally leads to discipleship and discipleship naturally leads to the gathering of local believers which, in turn, is the planting of a church. Indigenous pastors and new believers plant the church.

These churches may meet in huts, storefronts, under trees, or in homes, but they are built of believers who are being discipled and empowered to reach their lost loved ones and neighbors with the hope of Jesus.

Multiplication takes place as these disciples plant more churches, reaching more lost people. For example, in a Cuban city one church pastor began 70 new church plants!
