ere at Doulos Partners, we are thankful for each member of our team who God has assembled to be a part of this exciting Kingdom work! Here is an interview with one of our newest team members Nathan McDivitt who serves as the Director of Development for the Southeast Region.
Name?
Nathan Alexander McDivitt
Age?
34
Where Are You From?
Born and raised in Owensboro, Kentucky.
Tell Us About Your Family.
My wife, Claudia, is a business and health coach and loves coffee, being outside, and the Tennessee Vols. She and I married on September 15th, 2012, just 5 weeks before we moved to Cape Town, South Africa to serve a small community called Red Hill. We lived there for 2 years before moving to Franklin, TN. In November of 2015, my wife gave birth to our son, Norris Rhett. He’s a learner, tenderhearted, and loves playing outside. We adopted our girl, Zoe Margaret, from Mississippi in June of 2018. Her name means life and she is FULL of life and energy. She loves going to school, playing on playgrounds, and chasing her brother all over the place.
Where is Your Favorite Place You’ve Traveled?
Near the end of our time in Cape Town, we took a week-long excursion on the Garden Route, along the Southern coast of South Africa. We went ziplining through treetops in Tsitsikamma National Park, walked with Elephants in Knysna, and went on a safari in George. We also went cage diving to see great white sharks. Cape Town is easily the most beautiful place we’ve ever been able to experience.
What is Your Position at Doulos Partners? What Does it Entail?
I’m the Development Director for the Southeast at Doulos Partners. My job is to build new relationships to expand Doulos’ visibility and impact in the Southeastern region and to bridge the gap between donors and the work that’s happening in the field. Another part of my job is to equip and empower our donors to leverage their circles of influence to invite others into what God is doing.
What Made You Decide to Work with Doulos Partners?
It doesn’t take much to catch the vision of Doulos Partners when you hear the story of how it started and the work they are involved in. I love the strategy of equipping indigenous leaders with evangelism, discipleship, and church planting. But the idea of working with the staff and partners of Doulos to reach the nations and as Susan Johnson says – “to see the miraculous every day” – was such a tangible outworking of the Great Commission that I couldn’t say no to.
What Are You Most Passionate About?
I’m very passionate about equipping and empowering others to use their own salvation story to reach their circles of influence. We have each been created uniquely and specifically– on purpose and for a purpose– to know Jesus and make Him known!
What is Your Go-To Bible Verse?
Ephesians 3:20-21 – “Now to him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us – to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.”
What Are You Most Excited About Joining the Doulos Team?
I’m excited to play a part in tangible efforts to take the Gospel to the nations.
Anything Else You Would Like for People to Know About You?
I graduated from The University of Kentucky and am a bigger Wildcat football fan than I am a basketball fan. I am a coffee snob and enjoy playing basketball. I love reading and exploring with my family.
